IELTS Exam Format & Scoring
The IELTS exam consists of 4 sections:
1. Reading- 60 minutes
2. Writing- 60 minutes
3. Listening- 40 minutes
4. Speaking- 15 minutes
The overall test, along with each section, is scored out of 9 with higher scores indicating higher level of proficiency. The criteria for universities is generally between 5.5 to 7, but may be as high as 8.5 in some cases.
